New Brunswick is located in the New England area of eastern
North America, and borders Quebec (west), Maine (south-west) and
Nova Scotia (east). Abundant
fisheries attracted the first settlers to the region, but permanent
settlement did not begin until the forestry industry became important
in shipbuilding. During and after the American Revolution New Brunswick
saw increased migration from the "King's Yankees" loyal
to the crown whom replaced many of the original French settlers.
Today the ice-free port of Saint John is important location for
trade, and many tourists are attracted by hunting and fishing.
