It's something of a mute point for us, as we don’t recognized the Law of the Sea treaty we will drill where we want and continue to recognize your economic zone at the previous 100 miles or so level, and we when plant the American flag at the north poll it will be as a statement to say we Got there. Not that we own it as we don’t believe any one owns the North Poll. (Except perhaps mythological Santa Clause, lol)
By the way I believe they already proven geologically that the plate at the north poll is part of Greenland. (WHO CARES!!!)

Well it certainly isn’t going to help protect us form the Warsaw pack. so either you shift the roll of NATO to something else or you disband it, it’s a perfectly good Organization. Terrible waist just to disband it don’t you think?
In any case Former Warsaw pack countries joining NATO seals this deal guaranteeing NATO can never again be used in its original roll. As if theses countries did banded together and lunched an attack on us, they could simply veto the NATO responses to their attacks. Lol
As for Russia joining the west you should read your history, Russian history has been marked by a stride of like with the so called “West” which to be frank is just a name referring to a type of people in broad terms.
If Russia is consistories to be part of the west there is nonthing Russia can do about it except disagree. It doesn’t mean anything beyond the simply fact that we have a certainty level of a cultural bond between us relative to the rest of the world. Which is an opinion and observation not a meaningful or practical fact. In other words there is no reason you or anyone else should care. It’s semantics. |

I just read Clive Cussler's latest P.O.S.
I managed to get past the part about "viruses that live inside the molecules" of a meteor, but when I ran across a line declaring "the whole point is mute", it was all I could do to finish the last 20 pages.
First thing that sprang to mind was "WTF Clive, did you hire Monorprise to edit your goddam book?"  |

The misperceptions that you are starting this debate with make it nearly impossible to move it forward in any intelligent manner.
The US never wanted war with the Soviet Union, but I can say from personal experience that the USA was damned prepared to deal with it if it arose. The entire concept of Mutually Assured Destruction was brought about to prevent the Soviet Union from enslaving Western Europe in the same manner that it enslaved Eastern Europe.
It says something about a nation when it is willing to literally risk the lives of every last one of it's own citizens to protect people who do not even like them from being enslaved by an evil empire. |
